Currencies

  • Union of the Comoros: the Comorian franc (KMF), at a fixed rate against the euro (about 492 KMF to €1). Euros are easy to exchange at banks and bureaux de change.
  • Mayotte: the euro.

Cards and cash machines

In Mayotte, bank cards and cash machines are common. In the Union of the Comoros, cash machines are found mainly in Moroni and Mutsamudu, and are very rare on Mohéli; cards are accepted only in a few hotels. So bring cash in euros to exchange locally.
