International airports

  • Grande Comore — Prince Saïd Ibrahim Airport (HAH), at Hahaya, some twenty kilometres north of Moroni. It is the main gateway to the Union of the Comoros.
  • Mayotte — Dzaoudzi-Pamandzi Airport (DZA), on Petite-Terre. Then allow for the barge (ferry) to reach Mamoudzou.
  • Anjouan (Ouani) and Mohéli (Bandar Es Salam) have airfields served by regional flights.

From Europe

Mayotte is linked to mainland France by direct flights or flights with a stopover (often via Réunion or a city in East Africa). For Grande Comore, the most common routes go via Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Dar es Salaam, the Gulf, Réunion or Mayotte, depending on the airline. Allow between 11 and 16 hours of travel depending on connections.

From the Indian Ocean and Africa

Regular flights link the archipelago with Réunion, Madagascar and East Africa. These routes change frequently: compare offers and check timetables shortly before departure.

By sea

There is no regular cruise line to the archipelago, but boats link the islands with one another (see Getting around). Yachtsmen will find sheltered anchorages, especially in the Mayotte lagoon.
