Union of the Comoros

  • A passport valid for at least six months after your return date is required.
  • A visa is issued on arrival at the airport for most nationalities. Its price and duration are set by the Comorian authorities: check with the Comorian embassy before you leave.
  • A return or onward ticket and an accommodation address may be requested.

Mayotte

  • Mayotte is a French department, but is not part of the Schengen area.
  • European Union citizens can enter with a valid identity card or passport.
  • Nationals who require a visa must obtain one that is specifically valid for Mayotte: an ordinary Schengen visa is not enough.

Travelling between the Union of the Comoros and Mayotte

Travelling between Mayotte and the islands of the Union means crossing a border: always carry your passport and check the entry requirements on each side before booking a flight or a boat between Anjouan, Grande Comore and Mayotte.

Entry rules can change at any time. Check the official websites (embassies, foreign ministries) before every trip.
